German drive specialist Flender is delighted to be recognized again with the platinum medal by EcoVadis, the world's most renowned provider of corporate sustainability ratings. This is because Flender continues to be among the top one percent of companies rated by EcoVadis. Having already been awarded the gold medal in 2022, the first time it applied, Flender has now received the highest possible award for the second year in a row.
Significant improvements in the environment and ethics
Since the last assessment, the overall score has risen from 78 to 83 thanks to the introduction of additional guidelines and projects. In the environmental area, an improvement from 80 to 90 points was achieved. In the area of ethics, the score rose from 70 to 80. Specific projects that contributed to the EcoVadis assessment include the introduction of a process for utilizing heat from production processes to generate energy and increase energy efficiency. Regular monitoring and testing also guarantee environmental protection in production. Other measures promote the mental and physical well-being of employees as well as their career development. Regular audits ensure compliance with the guidelines for fair competition and evaluate Flender's suppliers in terms of environmental and social aspects. In addition, product innovations such as the increase in power density in wind gearboxes are driving the energy transition and ensuring reduced consumption of resources.
Promoting transparency throughout the value chain
Flender uses an advanced sustainability management system that covers all four topics covered by EcoVadis: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The current result reflects the high quality of this system and underscores the company's commitment to promoting transparency throughout the value chain.
Continuous improvement in the future
“We want to continue to be a pioneer in corporate social responsibility (CSR) in our industry. This result confirms that we are on the right track. We will continue to strive for more and want to continuously improve our work and initiatives in the coming years. An important aspect of this is working together and exchanging ideas with our partners to jointly drive change,” said Andreas Evertz, CEO of the Flender Group.
Optimization potential is proactively identified
“We are very pleased that our success in sustainability initiatives is reflected in this assessment. We see that the topic has been taken up throughout the Flender organization and that optimization potential is proactively identified and addressed. It is therefore an absolute team success of all colleagues,” said Kimberley ten Broeke, Head of CSR at Flender.
