Hydrogen isn't just number one in the periodic table - if there were a ranking of the elements that play a major role at HANNOVER MESSE 2018, the highly reactive gas would certainly be right at the top. Many believe that hydrogen is the key to solving a good number of the problems facing the energy sector. Its fans also include more than a few French men and women, which was reason enough for Business France, the national agency supporting the international development of the French economy, to organize another French pavilion, this time for the Hydrogen Fuel Cells section of the fair. As part of its involvement in the leading forum for new hydrogen storage technologies in Hall 27, Business France has joined forces with a number of partners, including Cluster Tenerrdis, the French hydrogen association AFHYPAC, the regions of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and the cluster Pôle Véhicule du Futur (Vehicle of the Future).

Together, the partners aim to show that France has the skills needed to develop a world-standard hydrogen sector. Along with Germany, Scandinavia and the UK, France is one of the European countries leading the way in harnessing this innovative and sustainable solution for the good of the planet. France is tackling key research and innovation issues related to hydrogen power and fuel cells, but not just through its National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). There is also a growing number of young, innovative companies that are working hard on the relevant science and technology and have already produced several world-firsts.
