With the planned start of production in October 2019, 150,000 highly automated e-vehicles of the FMC brand Byton are to be painted per year in the eastern Chinese metropolis of Nanjing. The paint application will be done automatically with robots . EcoInCure technology will be used for the drying process, whereby all body parts are evenly heated . This is important for vehicles that combine materials such as steel, aluminum, and composites. Dürr also just announced last spring a highly automated paint shop for BMW in San Luis Potosí, Mexico .
With the construction of this plant, Dürr AG is expanding its activities in China , where it already has a solid foothold in environmental technology. In 2017, 34% of orders in this sector came from China. To strengthen its offer, the company recently acquired the industrial environmental technology company of Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises . Completion of the transaction is scheduled for the third quarter of 2018.
