Volkswagen aims to reduce the costs of e-mobility by distributing its electrification kit - the Group has launched the ID Buggy as an example of the MEB's suitability even for low-cost small series production. Volkswagen expects around 15 million purely electric vehicles to use the MEB platform in the first phase.

Aachen-based e.GO Mobile AG will be the first external partner worldwide to use VW's electrification kit. Founded in 2015, the company aims to launch e-cars on the market that complement the Volkswagen model range. e.GO is already working on cost-effective and customer-oriented electric vehicles for short distances; it currently has another vehicle in the pipeline for the cooperative project with VW. "We can contribute the agility of e.GO in product development and our expertise in the construction of small series vehicles based on aluminum profile spaceframes," says Prof. Dr. Günther Schuh, founder and CEO of e.GO, describing the advantages of the cooperative project. "The MEB platform will make us even faster, more resilient and more cost-effective."
