Emirati-German task force established
Germany wants to be climate neutral by 2045, the UAE by 2050. Both countries are pursuing a clear sustainability strategy and signed a joint declaration of intent on November 2 to establish the Emirati-German Taskforce for Hydrogen and Synthetic Fuels. This is intended to deepen cooperation between the two countries in the field of green hydrogen.

German and Emirati companies are already working closely together on several hydrogen projects in the UAE. The first green electrolyser pilot project in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region was inaugurated jointly by Siemens Energy and Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) in Dubai in May this year. Other green hydrogen and synthetic fuel projects are currently being planned.
The taskforce's work under the German-Emirati Energy Partnership is supported by the German-Emirati Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) in Abu Dhabi and Guidehouse. The new hydrogen taskforce will be steered by a high-level steering group. The focus is on implementing concrete projects and achieving a common understanding of the necessary framework conditions for establishing and scaling green hydrogen production.
