Employees do not feel adequately informed
Internal communication about companies’ digitalization strategies is often poor. There is also a lack of appropriate training opportunities, as consultancy BearingPoint’s ‘Digitalization monitor 2018’ has found.12 Oct 2018 Dirk Bongardt
According to the digitalization monitor , it is predominantly employees without managerial responsibilities who complain of being in the dark, while managers far less frequently complain of a lack of information. Below management level, many employees did not know what their company wants to change with digitalization or why, nor what their role in this is. Moreover, in many companies there is still a lack of training opportunities in digital transformation and the necessary skills. BearingPoint reports that companies in Germany are making significant progress in other areas: Compared with 2017, strategies and visions are now clearly defined and the relevant associated responsibilities laid down.
Plus, many companies have now recognized the need to invest more in training their employees: According to a survey conducted by the Randstad Academy , 67% of industrial companies in Germany plan to expand their training programs.
