One of the key topics at HANNOVER MESSE 2022 is additive manufacturing. Hardly any other area records greater leaps in technology at shorter intervals. This is probably due to the fact that it is still a relatively new process. In order to promote its application regionally, "Niedersachsen ADDITIV" has now been launched, a joint project of the Laser Zentrum Hannover (LZH) and the Institut für Integrierte Produktion Hannover (IPH) gGmbH. The initiative is also supported by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics, Labor, Transport and Digitalization. The key instrument of the project is the 3D Printing Practice Check.

With the 3D Printing Practice Check, "Niedersachsen ADDITIV" specifically addresses companies that want to introduce or also expand 3D printing. As part of this practice check, companies can submit their plans and ideas in this regard online to the initiative (www.niedersachsen-additiv.de), where they are then reviewed by experts. In the case of promising projects, "Niedersachsen ADDITIV" then discusses the prerequisites and suitable procedures for implementation together with experts from the company on site during the practice check. Depending on the project, a feasibility analysis is also possible on the facilities of the LZH's technical demonstration area - including initial test components. In this context, 3D printing experts also check the real production processes once again. At the end of the 3D printing practice check, companies receive a recommendation on the processes to be used, on the acquisition of their own equipment or on possible collaboration with a service provider. The practice check is free of charge, manufacturer-neutral and is aimed at small and medium-sized companies in Lower Saxony.
