The Federal Environment Ministry (BMU) and the German Environment Agency (UBA) in cooperation with the International Design Center Berlin (IDZ) have presented the Federal Ecodesign Award (the German government’s most prestigious ecodesign award) once a year since 2012. Applicants can submit entries in the following categories: concept, service, product and young talent. What counts is an ecologically and aesthetically impressive design. Each project focuses on the entire life cycle and how design solutions can change consumer behavior such that it contributes to relieving the burden on the environment.
Experts from the German Environment Agency and the project advisory board as well as a distinguished jury examine and evaluate the quality of the submissions. The award ceremony will be held at the Federal Environment Ministry in November 2020. Professional image trailers will be produced for all award-winning submissions. A travelling exhibition will also present all nominees and award winners to the public. The awards for young talents are each worth 1,000 euros.
