The Digital Transformer of the Year (DOTY) initiative asked over 3,000 employees and managers from the German automotive industry, mechanical and plant engineering industry, energy sector, and media industry how they rate progress in the digitalization of their sector – with sobering results : Some 75% of those surveyed believe there is a need to play catch-up on the path to a successful digital transformation. Just 24% say that their company is making good or very good progress. 21% state that there has barely been any progress toward digital transformation in their sector.
Yet, managers and employees have high expectations of digitalization. The advantages of digitalization they most frequently cite include the future security of their company, the chance to significantly optimize processes, and the opportunity to present their company as an attractive employer for young talent.
In addition to its annual survey on the progress of digitalization, the DOTY initiative also honors the ‘Digitalization Champions’ from various sectors. The winners announced to date in the current poll include Stadtwerke München (Energy category) and Continental (Automotive category) .
