With more than 38,000 employees and an annual budget in excess of 4 billion euros, Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft Deutscher Forschungszentren e. V. (the Helmholz Association) is Germany’s biggest scientific organization. Its mission is to pursue the long-term research goals of state and society, and maintain and improve the livelihoods of the population. In order to do this, it carries out strategically planned top-level research in six areas to identify and explore the major challenges facing society, science and the economy. The Association brings together 18 scientific-technical and biological-medical research centers. At HANNOVER MESSE 2016, the Helmholtz Association is showcasing a total of twelve startups it has helped launch along with their innovative approaches. For example, the young founders of ArtiMinds Robotics will be showing visitors what they can do on Thursday, 25 April.

With its ArtiMinds Robot Programming Suite (RPS), ArtiMinds Robotics is programming and distributing a development software package that gives even relatively inexperienced users an intuitive, partially automated and very fast tool for writing program code that enables industrial robots to execute complex tasks. The primary focus is on tasks with process variables, which require the use of sensor-adaptive robot movements to ensure robust execution. The Robot Programming Suite currently supports force-sensitive and force-controlled robot motions. The team is already working on extending the system to support industrial image processing to enable the intuitive programming of complex visual-adaptive motions.
