Groundbreaking measurement technology
JUMO is at HANNOVER MESSE 2018 to unveil plastoSENS T - a brand new process for manufacturing temperature probes. Breaking with tradition, sensors are no longer potted in a metal tube, but coated with plastic during an injection molding process.

JUMO GmbH & Co. KG is a leading manufacturer of industrial sensor and automation technology. Its innovative product range encompasses the entire measuring chain from sensors right through to automated measurement solutions for temperature, pressure, liquid analysis, flow, fill levels and humidity. JUMO has now chosen HANNOVER MESSE 2018 to showcase plastoSENS T - a completely new process for manufacturing temperature probes.
While the traditional potting technique involves placing a sensor into a metal tube and filling the tube with a solid or gelatinous compound, this new injection molding process coats them in plastic. The patented system offers a wide range of benefits compared to conventional temperature sensors. The greatest advantage is complete design freedom, which enables plastoSENS products to be modified to suit the relevant installation scenario. For example, temperature sensors can be fully integrated into plastic pipework. What’s more, the sensors are light in weight and simple to replicate. JUMO is also currently developing a probe with an insulation resistance of 5 kV for use in transformers, a vibration-resistant push-in probe for oil, and a waterproof/steam-proof probe for sterilization applications.
