The new new PEBA powder from the Essen-based specialty chemicals company Evonik is an additive manufacturing processes material whose flexibility and chemical properties make it suitable for batch and series production of high-tech plastic parts. According to Evonik, PEBA (polyether block amide) products can withstand continuous use in a temperature range from -40 to +90 °C. The material can be used for a variety of 3D printing processes, from laser sintering to high-speed sintering though to binder jetting.
Evonik cooperates with the 3D printer manufacturer EOS from Krailing near Munich, whose facilities are primarily aimed at industrial customers. Only a few weeks ago, the Bavarian Ministry of Economics, Energy and Technology distinguished the company for the third time as one of "Bavaria's Best 50 Companies" .EOS itself offers the high-performance powder, which has been specially optimized for use in the company's own laser sintering printers, under the name "PrimePart ST".
