LEMO is expanding its renowned OPTIMA M family with the OPTIMA M Series Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) – a forward-looking solution for demanding high-speed networking. Unlike traditional Ethernet cabling, SPE uses only a single pair of wires to transmit data at up to 2.5 gigabits per second – a major advantage when it comes to saving weight and space.

Thanks to its ultra-light, compact design, the M Series SPE is particularly suitable for applications where “every gram counts” – such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), aerospace applications, motorsports, and industrial automation. The connection is based on a robust ratchet coupling mechanism and is IP68-rated, making it resistant to harsh environmental conditions.

A key advantage of SPE technology is its ability to transmit data and power (up to 50 watts) over the same pair of wires, simplifying system designs and reducing installation costs. In addition, 360-degree EMC shielding, compliance with IEEE 802.3 protocols, and a high number of mating cycles (>3000) ensure reliable signal transmission and long service life even in demanding application scenarios.

LEMO offers the SPE connectors together with pre-tested cable assemblies, which are designed to ensure fast integration and high reliability even under extreme conditions. Typical applications include real-time data transmission for sensors, cameras, LiDAR, radar, or actuators, as well as communication modules in autonomous systems and robotics.

With the OPTIMA M Series SPE, LEMO is focusing on future-proof Ethernet technology that eliminates the need for traditional network cables and opens up new possibilities for space- and weight-sensitive and highly dynamic applications.
