The sight of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in modern warehouses and factory floors has become almost commonplace. But of course, these useful little helpers are also constantly undergoing development steps that make them nimbler, stronger and, above all, smarter. At HANNOVER MESSE 2022, OMRON, one of the world's leading companies in the field of automation, will be showcasing the HD-1500 mobile robot, a particularly smart powerhouse.

According to OMRON, the new HD-1500 is ideally suited for use in modern warehouse systems where autonomous material transport solutions need to be mastered with the help of demanding industrial automation tasks. Thanks to a payload of up to 1,500 kilograms, the HD-1500 also enables the transport of larger and heavier items, up to pallet size - loads that are normally preferred to be transported with forklifts. As is customary with OMRON, the HD-1500 is controlled by the industry's first fleet manager, which also ensures efficient material handling. This system is capable of controlling up to 100 mobile robots of various sizes, configurations and payload capacities from a single source. In this way, even complex material handling and logistics applications can be automated. For example, the HD-1500 always automatically selects the best route, even without magnetic floor tapes or other path aids. Of course, it safely avoids people and obstacles in its path. The HD-1500's battery needs just 36 minutes for a full charge, after which it can handle a complete work shift at maximum load.
