Eavor GmbH (pronounced “Ever”), based in Düsseldorf, is a technology-based energy company committed to a clean, reliable and affordable energy future worldwide. As a subsidiary of the Canadian Eavor Technologies Inc., its mission is to develop geothermal heat and power generation projects in Germany. The parent company was founded in Calgary in 2017 by specialists from the energy industry. Numerous groundbreaking patents in drilling technology and in the sealing of boreholes form the foundation of the Eavor Loop technology.

As part of its efforts, Eavor GmbH has recently – together with Norddeutsche Erdwärme Gewinnungsgesellschaft GmbH (NDEWG) – entered into a groundbreaking cooperation agreement that will enable the use of different geothermal technologies in the same license field. According to the two companies involved, this so-called geological storeysolution marks a significant step in the further development of geothermal energy use in Germany and contributes significantly to the heating transition in the Hannover area.

Under the agreement, Eavor will receive permission from the permit holder NDEWG to implement Eavor loops in the deep storeys of the Altwarmbüchener Moor permit field, which will be used jointly in the future. At the same time, NDEWG plans to implement a hydrothermal geothermal solution in the upper levels.

“This partnership shows how innovative collaboration can drive the energy transition forward. We are demonstrating how different technologies at different depths can be used together in a single concession field,” emphasizes Daniel Mölk, managing director of Eavor GmbH.

According to Eavor, this cooperation is not only a milestone for the participating companies and the Hannover region, but also for the entire German geothermal industry. For the first time, both open and closed geothermal technologies will be used in a single license field as part of a geological stratum solution. The combination of these two approaches makes it possible to make optimal use of geothermal resources and thus make a decisive contribution to a sustainable heat supply in the Hannover region.

“Our collaboration shows that geothermal energy, regardless of the technology used, is an indispensable part of the energy transition and that new, forward-looking paths can be taken by working together in partnership,” explains Albrecht Möhring, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of NDEWG GmbH.
