WIKA Alexander Wiegand SE & Co. KG, based in Klingenberg, Germany, is an internationally active family-owned company that primarily manufactures pressure and temperature measurement technology and is a driving force behind innovation in the industry. With the NETRIS family, the Lower Franconia-based company has now launched three wireless devices designed to ensure seamless and secure measurement data transmission in IIoT applications. The devices enable battery-powered wireless transmission via the license-free LoRaWAN (“Long Range Wide Area Network”) wireless standard. This allows long ranges of up to ten kilometers and a long battery life of up to five years. The wireless devices can be easily configured via WIKA's web-based IIoT cloud platform and the LoRaWAN network, and in some cases also on the go via the “myWIKA wireless device” app.
The NETRIS devices are part of WIKA's IIoT platform, which is available either as software-as-a-service or as an on-premises solution. The cloud platform offers complete end-to-end encryption with bidirectional communication for a secure IIoT environment. Standard sensors can be connected to the compact NETRIS1 and -2 radio units to wirelessly transmit measurement data to the cloud for big data analysis. In addition to the license-free LoRaWAN and mioty radio standards, the NETRIS1 device uses Bluetooth for configuration and data transmission over short distances.
WIKA has developed the NETRIS2 and -3 Ex wireless devices for central, web-based remote monitoring of measurement data in hazardous areas. NETRIS2 receives the data via two intrinsically safe, analog 4 to 20 milliamp input signals, while NETRIS3 receives the data digitally via an intrinsically safe interface from a WIKA measuring device. The fully encapsulated devices in protection class IP55 or IP65 continuously transmit the information to the cloud via configurable data packets using LoRaWAN.
