More than every second company (59 percent) with more than 100 employees in Germany (59 percent) uses special Industrie 4.0 applications. At the same time, the proportion of companies for which Industrie 4.0 is not an issue has decreased from nine percent to one percent since 2018. The Bitkom study surveyed 552 industrial companies with 100 or more employees from mid-February to early April 2020. A large majority of those surveyed see Industrie 4.0 as a requirement for maintaining German industry’s competitiveness.

More than one in two emphasizes that in general, Industrie 4.0 gives their own business a new boost. Industrie 4.0 changes not only individual workflows and processes, but also entire business models. More than every second company is already developing new products and services or plans to.
