Industrial Data Ecosystems: Supply Chain Data Exchange
As the Manufacturing-X initiative, we have developed and put into practice an integrated end-to-end blueprint for the development, operation and scaling of data ecosystems. The "X" in Manufacturing-X stands for "Exchange" and sym-bolizes the exchange of data and collaboration in complex value creation networks across different industries. It illus-trates how companies can share information and resources to add value and improve profitability. While the approach origins with the creation of data ecosystems for the manufacturing industry, it is also applicable to data ecosystems in any other field.
Semiconductor-X is bringing the semiconductor value chain into the digital age. As part of the Manufacturing-X ecosys-tem, the project is developing an intelligent data ecosystem that connects companies along the entire supply chain. The focus: seamless interoperability, standardized data formats and a uniform digital infrastructure that accelerates innova-tion and increases efficiency.
Robot-X deals with the development of data ecostystem for the harmonized exchange of digital twins between supply chain actors of robotic components in order to enable data- and model-based system development using AI. The ap-proach pursues an automated configuration of robotic systems based on a modular principle.
Energy Data-X aims to promote the energy transition by creating a common data ecosystem for innovative, data-driven business models and standardized, efficient data exchange within the energy industry and with related sectors. Data security and individual decisions on data exchange are reliably guaranteed in accordance with the European Gaia-X standards.
Sustainability
The three projects show how the development of interoperable data ecosystems enables efficient and sustainable man-agement. The projects contribute to the implementation of national and European energy and climate protection targets and show how a digital infrastructure can reduce waste, optimize processes and lower energy consumption in order to create a sustainable and future-proof industry - in line with “Energizing a Sustaina-ble Industry”.
Future Outlook
With growing pressure on industry to operate more sustainably, the ability to link data intelligently and make decisions in real time is becoming increasingly important. Manufacturing-X projects connect production sites, suppliers and custom-ers in a standardized data space that creates transparency, optimizes material flows and reduces energy consumption. Manufacturing-X creates a shared, open data ecosystem in which all participants in the value chain can share their product and production data securely, confidently and interoperably.
