ifm electronic GmbH, based in Essen, Germany, launched the first inductive sensor onto the market back in 1969, the year it was founded. Since then, all the latest findings have consistently been fed into the original model – known as efector – year after year. With an innovative patented coil design and electronics optimized against interference, its successors, Kplus sensors, which are being unveiled at HANNOVER MESSE 2017, are now set to raise the bar once again for inductive sensors in both factory automation and welding.

A special feature of all the new inductive Kplus sensors, which ifm electronic has specially developed for factory automation, is their uniform sensing range for various metals. This enables the sensors to reliably detect all metals, even aluminum. In contrast, conventional sensors significantly reduce the sensing range for various kinds of metal. Thanks to their compact size, the sensors perform extremely well in even the smallest of spaces, while the new magnetic field-resistant sensor technology also eliminates faulty switching. The wide temperature range and high degrees of protection up to IP 68 / IP 69K further expand the already remarkable range of potential applications and will also ensure lasting reliability.
