The current FR series from the Japanese measurement and automation specialist KEYENCE consists of level sensors that use radar technology to monitor a wide range of media without contact. In addition to the standard models for common applications, there are other versions that, for example, have a high chemical resistance or meet strict hygienic approval criteria. With a detection range of up to 20 meters, the radar level sensors can monitor liquids and bulk materials both indoors and outdoors.

The level sensors' housing integrates the transmitter, receiver, lenses, and the horn for directing the radar waves. This combination of 60-gigahertz radar technology and the internal horn and lens structure reduces the interference and signal loss of the echo. A wide range of mounting brackets are also available as accessories for the radar level sensors to make installation as easy as possible in a variety of situations and environments. In addition, the level sensor can be configured so that structures in the tank have no influence on detection stability.

According to KEYENCE, the radar technology and detection algorithms have also been optimized so that environmental or media influences such as dust, dirt, steam or splashing water do not affect detection. This also makes it possible to mount the sensor on tanks in outdoor areas. The FR series not only enables non-contact detection, but also makes it possible to detect many different media. Not only a wide range of liquids, but also bulk materials such as powders can be reliably monitored. The fill level and status of the sensor can be seen at a glance at any time thanks to a 360-degree status LED and a color display. This means that the situation in the tank can be checked quickly and easily without additional hardware.
