Computer science, mathematics, machine learning, and the integration of artificial intelligence in a general social context are just some of the things students at Johannes Kepler University will be taught. The broad training provided should open up opportunities for course graduates in a wide range of fields in business and industry, from goods flow management and large dataset analysis through to process optimization.
As in other European countries, the skills shortage also poses a serious challenge for in Austria. As the ‘Fachkräftemangel im österreichischen Mittelstand’ (‘Shortage of skilled labor in Austria’s medium-sized companies’) study by consulting firm EY shows, more than half of companies suffer sales losses because of a shortage of skilled employees. Johannes Kepler University’s new programs are therefore just the thing – even if the courses are not set to start until this year’s winter semester, and the first graduates are therefore still some way off.
