While the EU is engaged in heated debate about AI regulation, IONOS, the leading European cloud enabler for small and medium-sized enterprises, is sending a strong signal and adding two powerful and independent open-source models of the latest generation to its AI Model Hub: Teuken-7B and Llama 3.3 70B.

With Teuken-7B, users now have access to an open-source model that is seven billion parameters in size and has been trained specifically with all 24 official EU languages. More than half of the training data comes from non-English texts.

In comparison, the Llama 3.1 8B model is trained with only eight percent non-English data. Teuken therefore offers an advantage over the common models, especially for less widely used European languages such as Polish, Czech or Hungarian. The model was developed as part of the OpenGPT-X research project under the leadership of the Fraunhofer Institutes IAIS and IIS in cooperation with IONOS and is therefore a prime example of high-tech 'Made in Germany'.

In addition, the latest model from Meta is available in the IONOS AI Model Hub: the text-to-text model Llama 3.3 70B delivers comparable performance to the larger model Llama 3.1 405B with less computing power. The integration of the model hub gives companies and developers access to an efficient and high-quality open-source AI.
