ElastiSense ApS, a spin-off from the Danish sensor manufacturer LEAP Technology ApS, is a specialist in groundbreaking EAP technology for industrial automation applications. The fledgling company, based near the Danish-German border, uses this innovative technology to create robust, flexible and highly precise displacement sensors. ElastiSense's new sensor solutions - which were unveiled at HANNOVER MESSE 2018 - capture important data on the operating status of monitored systems, including early warning signals in the event of abnormalities, which supports predictive maintenance. The rubber design enables the sensors to record precise and reliable measurements of displacement, frequency and speed in almost all automation system applications. Unlike other displacement sensors, this cutting-edge solution can be flexibly adapted in terms of shape, size, measurement range and electrical interface - which makes it easy to integrate them into systems.
Thanks to analog and digital interfaces, the sensors can be deployed as components in third party systems or daisy-chained with other ElastiSense sensors for synchronization and data extraction purposes. When integrated into other manufacturers' systems, it is preferable to use the analog output signal ranging from 4 to 20 mA, whereby 4 mA corresponds to a distance of 0 mm and 20 mA represents the maximum measurement range of the displacement sensor as per the datasheet. The ElastiSense displacement sensors are available for a measurement range of 20, 50, 100 or 200 millimeters. The company can cater to other measurement ranges upon request.
