“With this new center, we want to make AI research in Magdeburg more visible and tangible for companies,” says the scientific director Professor Udo Seiffert about the goals of CII , which the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation (IFF) , the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg and others will use to conduct research. According to Seiffert, the idea is to develop concrete, individual offers and products on the basis of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Marco Langhof, Chairman of the Saxony-Anhalt IT association , adds: “Artificial intelligence is vital for the survival of the entire economy. While there have already been some good basic research results, it is now important to implement productive and practical solutions for industry as quickly as possible.”
From the point of view of the founders, the great complexity and multitude of AI topics in particular require competency bundling. That is why the objective of the CII is to bring together scientific expertise and the specific needs of companies in the future. To this end, the participating research institutions intend to involve their own scientists and AI experts as well as international expert networks.
