Digital technologies offer many added values - Manufacturing-X is intended to make them more usable. This includes the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. In this way, new business models can be developed, while at the same time strengthening the competitiveness of the industry.

The BMWK published the funding concept for Manufacturing-X in May. Manufacturing-X is intended to implement an open, decentralized and collaborative data space for Industry 4.0 in order to realize an intelligently networked industry. The goals are resilience, sustainability and competitiveness.

The BMWK has budgeted a funding volume of €152 million. The funding objects are application-oriented R&D projects that implement cross-industry use cases of the Industrie 4.0 data space.
