Migration and integration in the field of IT/OT
Yokogawa Electric Corporation is launching a new version of the OpreX Collaborative Information Server (CI Server) to improve IT/OT integration.

Industrial plants consist of a wide range of different devices and systems. To detect and rectify operational faults at an early stage and to use the data stored in other systems and devices for more efficient maintenance, these systems must be seamlessly connected. At the same time, they must be able to make optimal use of the information collected.
Facilitating application development, improving external connectivity
The Collaborative Information Server (CI Server) from Yokogawa's OpreX Control and Safety System family has now been further optimized to facilitate application development and improve external connectivity. The CI Server collects large amounts of data from a wide range of equipment and systems, enabling optimized management of production processes across the entire enterprise. It also provides the environment needed to monitor and control operations from any location and make quick decisions. The following adjustments have been made.
New CI Gateway component
Gateways are used in renewable energy plants and other industrial sectors to collect data for central monitoring and control. These often serve as an interface for forwarding plant data for higher-level applications. The new version of the OpreX CI server includes the CI Gateway component, which enables easier and more flexible implementation. This means that the server can now be used more efficiently as a dedicated gateway.
Support for RESTful API
The RESTful API is a widely used interface for web applications in the IT world. With the new version, users can now access data from the OpreX Collaborative Information Server via this API. This promotes the close integration of IT and OT systems and enables seamless integration and more efficient use of the collected data. For example, general, web-based KPI dashboards can be created that aggregate and visualize information from different systems.
Improved IEC 61850 communication driver
IEC 61850 is an international standard for communication networks in the renewable energy sector. The enhanced support of this standard now offers users the option of executing certain previously automated processes interactively and more securely. In addition, device reports can now be used directly as CI server data, which increases operational flexibility.
