With the publication of the “Massive Knowledge” presentation which the industry association Massivumformung e.V. makes available for free download , the professional association wants to support, in particular, the commercial and academic training sector and provide them with illustrative material . The nearly 130-page documents not only provide an illustrated overview of basic possibilities and areas of application for massive forming processes. They also explain different, production-related topics including the choice of materials, individual process steps, and the machines used.
The industry association devoted the “Trend Topics” section to the area of Massive Forming 4.0 and provides presentation material on the digitization of the process chain. It includes presentations on cloud environments in the networked smart factory, the intelligent processing and analysis of sensor-based machine data, process data and the integration of additive manufacturing processes as the basis of hybrid manufacturing processes and the production of very small series. A rapid expansion of internal and also academic training offers seems urgently needed, especially with regard to digitization of the industry. According to a study by the auditing firm Ernst & Young , the shortage of skilled workers is proving to be a sensitive obstacle for SMEs.
