New industry policy for hardening plants
Health risks may be associated with the heat treatment of metals. For the first time, the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) has collected work safety measures for hardening plants in a new industry policy.

DGUV industry policies are not law, but rather encompass the complex requirements made of employers in a certain industry in a comprehensible way. A new publication has recently been released for companies that work in metal heat treatment. It contains legal specifications, potential sources of danger and possible measures to be taken to prevent hazards and health risks to employees. One of the focuses is on industrial furnaces in air or process gas atmospheres; another is on saline baths. Responsible representatives from various hardening shops collaborated on the brochure.
Although it is not an industry policy, another new publication , a DGUV guideline, also contains helpful information for manufacturers and machine/system designers. It helps these groups check how safe protective equipment is from tampering.
