Next Generation in Engineering
The Eplan Platform 2027, first introduced in May, is now available to users. Users of the engineering software benefit from faster results throughout the process steps of preliminary planning, electrical engineering, and control cabinet design. Additional value: Eplan Copilot is now integrated into the software. With Version 2027, the new AI assistant is also integrated into the platform, providing helpful support in day-to-day project planning.

The more than 500 enhancements in the newly launched Eplan Platform 2027 are diverse, but they have one thing in common: according to the provider, they are designed to simplify project planning and accelerate engineering. The key new feature is the integration of Eplan Copilot into the new platform. The AI-powered assistant has been live since early September with a wide range of functions: First, as a “Knowledge Service” that can be accessed directly from within the Eplan software. This service provides structured access to Eplan’s internal expertise and guides users reliably to the right solution, even for complex questions.
The Copilot is also designed to provide effective assistance with part usage tracking: If a designer wants to know in which projects they have used a product or component, they simply need to enter the part number. The AI searches through the projects in the cloud and provides direct links to the project pages where the parts are used. Whether it’s translation, menu simplification, BOM creation, or quality checks: Users can interact with the system via voice or prompts using Eplan Copilot, thereby making better use of the wide range of possibilities in Eplan.
New: Centralized Part Management in the Cloud
The enhancements to part management reflect a clear strategic focus on end-to-end, consistent data and efficient collaboration. With the new cloud-based part management and its associated synchronization, Eplan addresses key requirements of modern, hybrid engineering environments. The solution provider is thus laying the foundation for consistent master data, digital twins, and cross-system traceability. These core functions are complemented by targeted improvements in search, selection, transparency, and data quality, which are designed to significantly simplify the daily handling of large part inventories. According to its developers, these innovations collectively enable better-integrated and significantly more efficient workflows throughout the entire engineering and lifecycle process.
Cloud Parts Management Now Synchronized
When examining today’s processes in parts management, the process is characterized by media breaks. In hybrid IT environments, companies operate both cloud-based and on-premises systems in parallel. Different user interfaces, product data maintained across multiple locations, and limited remote access often lead to inconsistencies, increased maintenance effort, and data gaps in the design process.
The new Eplan Platform 2027 provides greater clarity and synchronized processes here: Through deployment in the Eplan Cloud, users benefit from a unified front-end workflow. The advantage is obvious. Product data is maintained only once and automatically synchronized bidirectionally between the cloud and local systems (keyword: data management). This applies to both item data and master data such as forms, plot frames, or symbol libraries, which can now be synchronized immediately. At the same time, this workflow ensures location-independent access to up-to-date part information. Users thus achieve maximum data consistency, greater reusability, and reduced effort in part management.
Focus on End-to-End Processes
Furthermore, the Eplan ecosystem is being expanded through targeted additions to partner integrations. This is driven by the growing need to seamlessly connect engineering systems with automation and ERP/PDM solutions to avoid data silos. Enhanced integrations create seamless end-to-end data flows between Eplan and leading partner solutions such as Rockwell Emulate 3D. By importing Eplan data into Rockwell’s virtual testing and simulation platform, users can simulate and validate machine and plant layouts—including the actual control logic (PLC)—long before the hardware even exists. Additional integrations with ERP/PDM systems enable transparent, controllable item synchronization. This sustainably improves data reliability.
