The product portfolio of Thyracont Vacuum Instruments from Passau includes vacuum sensors, vacuum transmitters, vacuum gauges, vacuum switches, controllers as well as accessories and vacuum components. According to the respective task, the company offers a wide range of measuring principles in various combinations: Piezo, Pirani, Capacitive, Cold and Hot Cathode. On the occasion of HANNOVER MESSE 2023, Thyracont is now presenting its new VD800 series to an international trade audience for the first time.

Multifunctional and yet easy to operate

The VD800 vacuum gauges measure absolute pressure in a wide measuring range from 2000 to 5e-5 millibar and also relative pressure from -1060 to +1200 millibar. Current measured values, pressure diagrams as well as minimum and maximum pressures can be conveniently read from a large graphic display. In combination with the four-plus-one membrane keypad, it also enables intuitive, menu-driven user guidance. The integrated data logger stores several separate measurement series with real-time stamps. Thanks to sampling rates between 50 milliseconds and 60 seconds, the units are said to be suitable for both fast vacuum processes and long-term monitoring. In addition, reaching defined threshold values can be indicated via an acoustic or optical signal.

Modern interfaces help with evaluation

For direct readout of measurement data or for later export of measurement series from the data logger, the devices of the VD800 series have both a USB-C interface and optionally Bluetooth LE for wireless data transmission. With the associated Thyracont VacuGraph software, users can conveniently save and analyse measurements or start an online measurement.

Economical energy consumption combined with ease of maintenance

Thanks to intelligent energy management, the devices of the VD800 series are said to offer consistently long battery runtimes and can be easily charged via the USB-C interface with a standard power supply unit if required. The new, modular design of the devices also allows for easy replacement of dirty or worn sensor heads by authorised personnel directly on site. Maintenance times and costs are thus reduced to a minimum.

The individual models of the VD800 series

The VD800 is used in conjunction with external Thyracont USB transmitters and is therefore particularly suitable for angled systems or for reading out permanently installed sensors. The VD810 measures in the rough vacuum range by means of an internal, resistant ceramic sensor, independent of the type of gas. In the VD850, on the other hand, an internal piezo/pirani combination sensor records a wide measuring range in the rough and fine vacuum with high resolution and accuracy.

The choice between stationary and mobile use

The VD800 vacuum gauges can be connected to vacuum pumps and systems, connected to external sensors or placed directly in the vacuum chamber. Whether mobile use or permanent installation in vacuum systems - both are possible. The compact VD800 are therefore ideal for service applications, quality assurance and maintenance tasks or for leak tests via pressure rise measurement.

"Thyracont handheld vacuum gauges are benchmarks in terms of precision and functionality. With the modernisation of this product family, we have not only succeeded in further increasing their performance, but also in making life considerably easier for the user through intuitive operability. Graphic display, menu-driven user guidance and simplified handling of the data logger are just a few examples", explains Frank P. Salzberger, Managing Director of Thyracont Vacuum Instruments.
