The Mittelstand-Digital Center Kaiserslautern (MDZ-KL) is one of several regional centers established by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWiK). The aim of this nationwide funding initiative is to raise awareness among small and medium-sized companies of the importance of the future-oriented topic of Industry 4.0, to inform them about the great opportunities it offers and to actively support them in implementing projects. The Mittelstand-Digital Center Kaiserslautern supports companies from Rhineland-Palatinate and beyond.

At HANNOVER MESSE 2025, the Mittelstand-Digital Center Kaiserslautern is represented at two stands and shows how companies can save valuable resources by using digitization. At the BMWK stand (Hall 2, A 18), the MDZ-KL is presenting the “SharingEconomy4PAUL” demonstrator. At its own joint stand (F40) in hall 17, the focus is on the “Print4PAUL” solution. In addition, center director Dr. Jonas P. Metzger will be providing deep insights into shared production and the specific added value of this business model on the stage of the BMWK stand.

The “SharingEconomy4PAUL” demonstrator focuses on how users can save time and money with AI-based quality control and why the digital twin can greatly simplify production processes. The demonstrator also shows that manual workstations can be integrated into automated production environments. Thanks to the administration shell and OPC UA, system control does not have to be complicated either.

A similar concept also underlies “Print4PAUL”: the focus here is on how flexible production can be used to compensate for failures at other plants in a shared production environment. In addition, users can view the energy consumption of the orders and have it predicted for future production orders – this also enables direct reporting obligations to be fulfilled.
