Poland is undergoing rapid and stable growth. Imports and exports are increasing. The IT sector is booming and the landscape of this scientific country is very attractive. According to Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI), services are Poland’s "export specialty". Whereas Poland’s goods turnover at the end of 2015 recorded a plus of around 9 bn zloty, its annual net profit in the global services trade had already exceeded 50 bn zloty.

According to GTAI, telecommunication and information technology make up a major share of Polish service exports. Thanks to large firms such as Asseco and Comarch, this segment grew over 170 percent within the past five years. Business services are also undergoing dynamic development, including research and development. In 2015, this 4 bn zloty export category was 130 percent greater than in 2010. Major IT companies such as Google, SAP, and Microsoft have research and development centers in the country, which has gained international recognition as an R&D service provider.

At Research & Technology 2017 , the EU's sixth largest economy wants to demonstrate its continuing power of innovation and gain new R&D customers. For years, Poland has been among the top 5 visitor nations at Research & Technology. This year’s HANNOVER MESSE Partner Country is planning to continue its success in 2016: Around Polish 80 companies presented innovative solutions in the industrial and research sectors at last year’s HANNOVER MESSE. The government, business associations, and academic facilities have together developed a concept to make sure they are represented at every leading trade show in Hannover . The National Center of Research & Development (NCBR), an executive agency of the Polish Ministry of Science and Education, is coordinating the country's appearance in Hall 2. Together with Germany's Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the NCBR is carrying out a major bilateral development program for sustainable development. The research focuses on environmental technologies, water and wastewater management, waste recycling, and resource efficiency, which are also among the hot topics at Research & Technology .
