Process reliability first
Thanks to the ePaper status display and calculation app for the MAGNOS magnetic chucks, SCHUNK is aiming to provide more safety in magnetic clamping in the future.

SCHUNK has improved its MAGNOS magnetic chucks for deformation-free 5-sided machining, offering increased process reliability and user-friendliness. The new ePaper status display clearly shows the machine operator whether the magnetic chucks are activated or deactivated. Together with the specially developed MAGNOS app, users can simulate their clamping situations in advance of machining.
Uniform magnetic clamping force makes even complex machining tasks possible
For years, MAGNOS magnetic chucks from SCHUNK have stood for energy-efficient and reliable clamping of ferromagnetic workpieces. Workpiece clamping with magnetic clamping technology is not only convincing due to the high holding forces, but it is also the ideal clamping solution for milling applications with 5-sided workpiece machining in a single clamping operation. The electro-permanent technology guarantees a uniform magnetic clamping force over the entire workpiece, which should also make complex machining tasks possible. The plates require only a short electrical impulse for magnetization or demagnetization, which contributes to energy-efficient machining processes.
Clear signaling of the clamping conditions thanks to the new ePaper display
SCHUNK is the first supplier to equip its magnetic chucks with a visual status display in the connection housing. The colors green/red indicate the magnetization status to the machine operator. With the revision, the clamping technology expert has now replaced this safety feature with an ePaper display that is unique on the market and displays the clamping states “MAG ON” and “MAG OFF” even more clearly.
Intelligent combination
In combination with the SCHUNK MAGNOS app, the status display is designed to make handling of MAGNOS magnetic chucks much easier, thus ensuring maximum process reliability. The app can be used to quickly and easily calculate the holding forces in advance based on the size and material of the workpiece. Since the process data is also fully included in the calculation, manufacturing processes can be optimized. With the help of a simulation, the app indicates whether all parameters for safe machining have been correctly selected, thus eliminating any uncertainties.
Available from the first quarter of 2025
The MAGNOS MFRS magnetic chucks with the new ePaper status display will be available from the first quarter of 2025. This feature is also planned for the MFPS and MFRS-DM series.
