Under a global umbrella brand, Phoenix Contact offers innovative products, solutions, and digitalisation expertise for the electrification, networking, and automation of all sectors of the economy and infrastructure. In this way, the family-owned company empowers industry and society in the transformation to a sustainable world with long-term growth prospects for all. The core business is organised into three business areas. In new business areas beyond the core business, the potential of digitalisation, electrification and changing mobility is also being tapped.

Among the latest achievements of the Blomberg-based company are the new protective covers for CHARX connect universal CCS charging sockets. According to the manufacturer, they provide reliable IPX5 protection for the contact area and make electric commercial vehicles fit for demanding environmental conditions. In addition to their robust protection, the protective covers offer other smart features: for example, when the DC cover is lifted, the AC cover opens automatically, making operation convenient. The protective covers are compatible with the CHARX control vehicle charging control system and support common charging standards. Design-in is easy thanks to identical screw-on points for CCS Type 1 and Type 2. Optional extras such as a freely controllable RGB LED status display and a function button, which can be used to interrupt charging, for example, can be integrated. The LED display and button are connected via a six-pin MCON connector, and the LED display is controlled via pulse width modulation (PWM), which allows the brightness of the LED to be precisely regulated.

Another advantage is that the protective covers meet the requirements of the international safety standard UNECE R61, which regulates the protection of external vehicle parts and thus contributes to the safety of road users.
