With the BMG Pure Water System, Robert Bosch Manufacturing Solutions GmbH convinced the high-calibre jury with its forward-looking solution for sustainable hydrogen production.

BMG Pure Water System – innovation for the hydrogen economy

The BMG Pure Water System is a groundbreaking solution for the sustainable production of green hydrogen. The system enables highly efficient water treatment and use in electrolysis processes, optimising the use of resources and significantly reducing water consumption. The innovative technology helps to reduce costs and increase efficiency, paving the way for environmentally friendly hydrogen production.

Innovative strength for the industry

Friederike Lassen, Chair of the German Hydrogen Association, emphasised the innovative strength of the project, which is exemplary for the industry: ‘The BMG Pure Water System impressively demonstrates how technological advances can make the hydrogen economy more sustainable and efficient. This system brings green hydrogen exactly where it is needed – clean, efficient, scalable.’

Günter Krenz, General Manager of Bosch Manufacturing Solutions | BMG, was delighted with the award:

‘With the development of our innovative water treatment technology, we are creating the basis for a sustainable energy supply from hydrogen. Our low-maintenance system for harsh offshore conditions enables highly efficient and environmentally friendly hydrogen production – emission-free and without chemical additives. Winning first place in the H2Eco Award is not only an acknowledgement of the importance of this technology and its contribution to decarbonisation, but also a commitment by German industry to our environment and a sustainable future. My special thanks go to our BMG colleagues worldwide and to the team around Wolfgang Schleifenbaum, who have driven this development forward and filled it with life and passion. With the follow-up project North H2, we are now taking the next step together with strong partners: large-scale offshore hydrogen production. This project will play a key role in expanding the infrastructure for green hydrogen and will help us move forward on the path to an emission-free future.’

About the H2Eco Award

The H2Eco Award has been presented by the German Hydrogen Association and Deutsche Messe AG since 2022. It honours companies that have made outstanding efforts to promote a sustainable hydrogen economy and are contributing to climate protection, economic efficiency and security of supply through innovative technologies. The independent jury, consisting of experts from business, science and politics, selects the most innovative project each year. The aim of the award is to raise the profile of groundbreaking solutions and promote progress in the green hydrogen economy.
