Exhibitors & Products

The extensive trade fair presence of Pilz, known as a global supplier of products, systems and services for automation technology, includes the premiere of the new Industrial Security Consulting Service (ISCS), which focuses on reliable and future-proof production. At HANNOVER MESSE 2024, Pilz will also be focusing on new application scenarios that combine automation and safety solutions in "all-in-one" packages - for greater consistency between automation and safety. Pilz wants to use them to show how industry can be supported with integrated automation solutions.

Two practical application scenarios on display

Visitors to Hanover will be able to find out more about two "all-in-one" packages for drive applications. The two differently dimensioned packages are designed for machines with a medium and for machines with a more complex range of functions. The universal and therefore flexible solutions also focus on cost-effectiveness: Users only have to calculate what they need - and thus save on investment costs. The configurable small controller PNOZmulti 2 with FSoE connection forms the core in each case. At the trade fair stand, the expert in safe automation will be demonstrating practical application scenarios: controlling a conveyor belt as an example for the medium application or, for the more complex application, controlling a gripper arm with multiple, synchronous axes.

Supporting transformation through safe communication

Safe communication in the field is a prerequisite for a successful transformation: in Hanover, Pilz will be demonstrating how its complete IO-Link safety system comprising master, field devices and accessories can be used to implement safe data communication for all sensors in the field, ensuring greater availability and more flexible automation on top. Visitors can experience the benefits of this complete solution on an interlinked automation system with integrated robotics. Safe data transmission via the EtherCAT open communication system in combination with the safe Safety over EtherCAT FSoE protocol will also be a topic. FSoE-capable solutions - such as the small safety controller PNOZmulti 2 - make it easy to implement safe data transmission. The focus: the flexible connection of safety-relevant plant structures.

Security as the guardian of transformation

Industrial security will become mandatory by 2027 at the latest with the new Machinery Directive. In the networked world of automation, safety and security form a single unit - but the process of change has already begun. Pilz supports this process with suitable products and services such as the I.A.M., which combines safety (operating mode selection) and security (access authorization). New in the trade fair baggage: the control element PIT oe ETH with activatable Ethernet port, which can be used for security. As an industrial Ethernet interface, the new operating button can be switched on and off electrically. This means that only authorized personnel can temporarily activate interfaces, including for new configurations.

Knowing protection requirements, ensuring security

Users need to know how much security they need. Pilz is therefore presenting its new security service ISCS as a further highlight: It includes a complete industrial security service including the steps "Protection requirements analysis", "Industrial security risk assessment", "Industrial security concept", "Industrial security system integration" and "Industrial security system verification" - and determines the individual security requirements. The security service supports users and enables them to efficiently implement all-round manipulation protection against internal and external attacks. The Pilz experts will also be providing information about the TÜV Nord-certified qualification for industrial security "CESA - Certified Expert for Security in Automation".
