Its German branch based in Heusenstamm, near Frankfurt, is now unveiling the new Dematic micro-fulfillment solution, which the intralogistics specialist intends to add to its portfolio of omni-channel distribution services. The innovative automation system has therefore been geared specifically to the needs of retailers requiring high throughput rates. According to Dematic, the fully automatic system should be capable of fulfilling any order in the space of an hour. What's more, the compact design with a footprint of around 900 square meters means that in many cases, even in urban areas, the solution can be directly incorporated into retail premises or operated as a dedicated urban fulfillment center. The resulting proximity to end customers or their collection point is intended to shorten the distances they need to travel and achieve a further significant reduction in delivery times. Customers get their orders far faster, while companies benefit from the growing profitability of online orders.

The new Dematic micro-fulfillment systems combine proven technologies such as the Dematic Multishuttle and Goods-to-Person Picking solutions with the specially developed Dematic iQ software. Dematic's President and CEO Hasan Dandashly has the following to say about the idea behind the innovation: "Our flexible Dematic micro-fulfillment system offers retailers a solution with a promising future. Order fulfillment in the immediate vicinity of end consumers sets completely new standards in omni-channel distribution."
