More than just the combined name IAMD is new. Much of the content from the former leading trade shows Industrial Automation and MDA has been expanded and renamed accordingly. The former MDA Forum for example is now Forum Motion & Drives. Located in Hall 23, it consists of all the contents of Halls 22 and 23: Smart manufacturing 4.0 / intelligent components and composite systems in the production process, predictive maintenance, sustainability, energy efficiency, and intelligent power transmission and fluid power. The perfect agency to host the forum is VDMA.

Also at home in Hall 23 are the topics pneumatics and hydraulics – with exhibitors such as Aventics, Parker Hannifin, Hydac, IMI Precision (formerly Norgren), Bucher Hydraulics, and Voith Turbo.

One highlight in the hall is the special display area Smart Power Transmission and Fluid Power Solutions. Industry giants such as Linde Hydraulics, Schaeffler, Parker Hannifin, and Bucher Hydraulics demonstrate the applications that are already possible using drive engineering and fluid technology. One example is the new hydrostatic drive system from Linde Hydraulics: The electrohydraulic synchronized shift operation “shift in motion” enables smooth shifting in vehicles which frequently switch between transportation gears and working operation, and require high driving power and speed.

All in all, drive engineering in 2018 is concentrated in Hall 22: I ndustry giants such as ZF Friedrichshafen, Schaeffler, Nachi, Dunlop, Tsubaki, NGC, and Sumitomo are showcasing their innovations here . The joint pavilion Predictive Maintenance, a major visitor attraction at the most recent HANNOVER MESSE, can also be found in Hall 22.

One exciting development this year from the view of drive and fluid technology is its proximity to the intralogistics trade show CeMAT, which will be held at the same time and will frame the double IAMD Halls 22 and 23: Logistics 4.0, smart warehouse technology, robots, picking floor conveyor systems, and the latest generation of forklifts, lift trucks, and cranes are the attractions at this leading trade show.
