Absent standards make it difficult to exchange order and logistics data. The four telematics specialists Couplink , LOSTnFOUND , Navkonzept and YellowFox consider this one of the greatest challenges of digitalization, as online magazine "Eurotransport" reports: Currently, solution providers still have to custom-program the interfaces required between the ERP and transport management systems used, which entails a great deal of effort and high costs.
The recently founded association aims to establish a uniform, software-independent standard interface. The initiators of Opentelematics hope many telematics providers and software manufacturers of ERP and TMS solutions will join the association and help develop the interface so that it actually becomes the standard. As revealed in a study by McKinsey , the logistics industry especially has a lot of catching up to do in terms of digitalization.
