Still wet behind the ears – but already a pro!
Rotronic, a Process Sensing Technologies Group company, has launched a new version of its proven HygroCal humidity validation device.
7 Feb 2025Share
The technologies for measuring and monitoring humidity and gases from the Process Sensing Technologies Group (PST) provide unique insights into processes, according to the company. These insights are designed to help PST customers innovate and improve processes in demanding applications. Overall, PST products provide safer conditions for people and processes, maximize energy efficiency, improve product quality and ensure continuous compliance with global standards.
With the lightweight and portable HygroCal100 Advanced, a new version of the proven HygroCal humidity validation device, PST subsidiary Rotronic has now introduced a solution to enable technical and quality control teams in the field to quickly and easily evaluate the performance of up to seven relative humidity (RH) probes simultaneously.
The Rotronic HygroCal 100 Advanced (HC100A) is a fully integrated, stand-alone device for the validation of humidity sensors in the range of five to 95 percent relative humidity. According to its developers, this makes it ideal for a wide range of laboratory and process applications, including those in the pharmaceutical, food and semiconductor industries. The new instrument features a robust and sealed test chamber designed to provide a stable validation environment. Relative humidity stability and uniformity within the chamber are within plus/minus 0.5 percent. Also integrated is a low-maintenance split-flow mixing system with separate saturation and drying reservoirs. Depending on requirements, ambient air can be passed through one of these containers to change the measurement conditions in the chamber.
An advanced Rotronic HC2A-S reference probe is supplied as standard and provides accurate humidity and temperature measurements with an accuracy of 0.8 percent relative humidity and 0.1 degree Celsius and a long-term drift of only plus/minus one percent per year. The probe is equipped with on-board memory that stores all reference data, making it easy to replace probes.
The HC100A is quick and easy to configure and operate using an advanced color touchscreen interface with an intuitive, easy-to-use menu structure. This allows each user to define the desired calibration procedure, which can then run automatically. It is also possible to assign any hygrometer with analog output as a reference device and to define a range of predetermined conditions against which traceable reference values can be compared. All measurement and reference data are automatically recorded and can either be stored in the two-gigabyte internal memory or downloaded directly to a PC using the free HC100A Service Tool software. To further enhance the performance of the HC100A, Rotronic also offers a range of external hand-held humidity meters for spot measurements and precision dew-point mirror calibration hygrometers.
