108 companies were surveyed for the study. The public sector and industry constituted the two largest groups in the study . An analysis of the survey results suggests that successful digitizers attach great importance to the measures taken and pursue them purposefully, while they consider cooperation with start-ups as less important. Their release cycles were also significantly shorter than those of less successful digitizers. Although they also struggle with the increasing complexity of IT, good planning makes this easier to manage. The consultants write that, in other words, this means that a chaotic transformation increases the amount of work.
As early as 2018, a study by the consulting firm Bain showed that digitization makes companies faster and more profitable rather than being an end in itself. According to the analysis, IT complexity costs fell by an average of 20% in digitized companies.
