EPLAN, part of the Friedrich Loh Group, has now unveiled the new EPLAN Platform 2026. According to the company, this represents a further development of EPLAN's entire portfolio – with an even greater focus on customers and their requirements in their respective market segments. The key point is a significant reduction in complexity. The new software portfolio is designed to make the full power of the EPLAN platform more transparent – and, thanks to numerous enhancements, to provide a comprehensive complete solution in specific fields of application. Customers can use it immediately to its full extent and optimized for basic engineering, electrical engineering, and control cabinet construction without having to evaluate and procure additional modules and options later on. However, according to EPLAN, one thing remains unchanged: the platform can be easily integrated into existing IT landscapes.

“Greater simplicity in engineering”

Jan Fleming, Vice President Customer Journey, explains: "We have consistently aligned our product portfolio with the tasks and workflows of our customers. With the EPLAN Platform 2026, users receive maximum support in their respective fields of application. This means greater simplicity in engineering and, at the same time, valuable additional services that make our customers even more efficient."

New product portfolio

In the EPLAN Platform 2026, all products have been fundamentally revised and functionally expanded, and according to the provider, it is considered the new benchmark in electrical engineering. The launch is accompanied by a completely new product portfolio. Previously optional extensions are now standard in some versions of the software. The portfolio has been specifically tailored to the engineering requirements of certain market segments: EPLAN Preplanning meets these requirements for operators and planners. Control cabinet construction is planned with Pro Panel, and machine builders will find all the relevant functionalities for their tasks in EPLAN Electric P8.

Even more efficient and consistent

The cloud-based EPLAN Collaboration Apps, the EPLAN Data Portal, Parts Management eStock, and Data Management eManage are now included in the scope of EPLAN Electric P8, Pro Panel, and Preplanning. Previously optional extensions are now included in some configuration levels. This allows users to make their processes even more efficient and consistent. This applies to all project phases and different industries – from concept development to detailed engineering and manufacturing to commissioning and operation.

Support for operators too

EPLAN Preplanning, for example, now also covers electrical engineering requirements in the early planning phase in the form of single-pole circuit diagrams, in addition to the integration of pre-planning data and the professional creation of P&IDs. This means that the software can be used not only by system integrators, but also by operators and planners in basic engineering. Users benefit from preconfigured content such as symbols, sample data, and forms that are specifically tailored to the requirements of mechanical engineering, control cabinet and switchgear construction, energy technology, and building automation.

Flexible – with or without cloud use

Depending on the configuration level, customers can now also collaborate internally and externally in the EPLAN Cloud: Cloud apps for article management, data management, and viewing EPLAN projects via Viewer are now included. As soon as a user activates their license for the EPLAN Platform 2026, the extended range of functions is available to them. All they have to do is install the new software – at no additional cost.

Connections add value

The new EPLAN platform can be integrated into ERP and PDM systems, for example, via standardized interfaces. Digital data from electrical design can also be used directly in the manufacture of control cabinets or in the cabling of machines and systems. In the field of automation technology, commercially available PLC planning and programming systems can also be directly linked via standard formats.

Faster access to relevant data

Another important innovation: Access from the article management system in EPLAN now allows direct article data selection in the Data Portal. Users no longer have to “jump” from the platform to the portal. With a click in EPLAN Electric P8, they can go directly to the article selection in the portal and immediately download the required project data. This also applies to cloud-based article management. And with more than 400 new properties for articles, these can now be described even more accurately.

Everything at a glance: Download Center

Last but not least: The EPLAN Download Center is now available to all EPLAN users: Users can access software, tools, useful e-learning courses, and license information directly via eplan.com. There they will find information about the currently used release as well as individual updates, which allow even larger update jumps from an older previous version with just one click.
