Transparency, end-to-end solutions, networking and the involvement of employees are the common features of the winners of the Industry 4.0 Award 2018 , bestowed by the magazine "„Produktion“ and the consulting firm ROI Management Consulting. Siemens AG 's electronics factory in Amberg, Bavaria, which creates transparency across all production steps with its comprehensive network of machines and products, won the "Smart Factory" category. Kamax Tools & Equipment was the winner in the "Smart SCM" category. The company has implemented a fully automated process for the production of forming tools at its plant in Homberg (Ohm), Central Hesse. A web configurator allows the tools to be planned online and then produced fully automatically - thus eliminating prototyping and manual checking. The BMW Group plant in Regensburg, Bavaria , received the special prize "Humans & Communication" for its InnoLab. The lab cooperates with the employees on the shop floor to develop digitization solutions and process innovations, for example smart watches that inform employees when a vehicle with unusual requirements is approaching. The award-winning solutions will be presented on YouTube .
