The following four Fraunhofer Institutes work together in the " Digital Networking " performance center, which was founded two years ago: Open Communication Systems (FOKUS), Heinrich-Hertz (HHI), Product Systems and Design Technology (IPK) and Reliability and Microintegration (IZM). The center's transfer centers and laboratories offer both startups and large companies the opportunity to quickly achieve concrete results through innovations. Its portfolio ranges from support for the implementation of secure cyber-physical systems, to application scenarios with 5G network technology, to Industry 4.0 solutions and innovative business models for the Internet of Things.

The second phase, which is starting now and receiving six million euros in funding from the Fraunhofer Society and the State of Berlin, is intended to boost cooperation with the private sector. The performance center also seeks to support research transfer through its cooperation network and its partners. These include the Technical University of Berlin, the Einstein Center Digital Future , the Weizenbaum Institute for the Connected Society, the Berlin Partner business development agency, the Berlin-Brandenburg business associations and the IHK (Chambers of Trade and Industry) Berlin.
