In a new report entitled " Global Glass Fiber Market 2017-2021 ", analysts forecast an annual average growth of 7.4 % in the global fiberglass market. The demand is mainly fueled by the construction industry in countries such as China, India and Japan, where fiberglass is being used more and more often to build roofs, walls, doors and windows. The automobile industry can also put the material, which is also used in the construction of wind turbines, to good use. The main characteristics of fiberglass materials are not only their low weight, but also their tensile strength, dimensional stability, thermal conductivity, chemical resistance and great durability.

The study also mentions, however, factors that could hinder the growth of the market in the future. One such factor is, in particular, the availability of other materials with similar properties. The reference here is mainly to carbon and basalt fibers , as well as natural fibers. The major manufacturers of fiberglass are currently AGY , Nippon Electric Glass , Owens Corning , PPG Industries and Saint-Gobain .
