The "5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation" (5G-ACIA) of the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI) is involved in the standardization and regulation of 5G, identifying and analyzing possible use cases and the associated requirements of industry. Among other things, it advocates the local awarding of 5G radio frequencies in the 3,700 to 3,800 MHz range to manufacturing companies. In their opinion, 5G can be expanded nationwide in compliance with industry requirements, which are primarily availability, data and operational reliability and guaranteed quality of service.
Representatives of the automation and production industry as well as information and communication technology (ICT) are all taking part in the initiative. ABB, Audi, GHMT, MC Technologies, Qualcomm and Rohde & Schwarz have now joined the original 26 members. Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI) and TechnologieZentrum Informatik und Informationstechnik (TZI) at the University of Bremen are reinforcing the scientific dimension.
