The Right Genes for Tough Products
At HANNOVER MESSE 2026, Nordalp, a startup with Swedish, German, and Swiss roots, will showcase modern, rugged handheld devices and tablets designed for use in particularly demanding environments.

Following the strategic decision by the Swedish Mildef Group AB, a developer of rugged IT products and specialized electronics, to focus exclusively on the defense sector, employees from the handheld division—responsible for high-performance, rugged tablets, PDAs, and custom hardware and software solutions—decided to strike out on their own. Since the founding members hail from Sweden, Germany, and Switzerland, they chose a name intended to reflect their close connection: The first part, “Nord,” refers to the Nordic countries and represents the team from Sweden. The second part, “alp,” stands for the Alps and thus represents the team from southern Germany and Switzerland. And so Nordalp GmbH was founded in 2025.
Unlike its former parent company, Nordalp develops rugged mobile computers for anyone working in demanding environments. Whether it’s harsh weather, extreme temperatures, or challenging working conditions—Nordalp’s rugged handhelds and tablets are designed to handle it all.
The latest proof of this claim is the new Nordalp X21 Pro, a compact yet powerful, rugged handheld device designed for demanding applications. With 5G connectivity and a powerful industrial chipset, the device ensures fast data transfer and low latency. Its improved design offers ruggedness with IP65 and IP68 protection ratings, MIL-STD-810H certification, and drop resistance from a height of 1.8 meters. With customizable buttons and the Nordalp software suite, the Nordalp X21 Pro offers quick and easy setup and the ability to tailor it to users’ needs.
