SUCO Robert Scheuffele GmbH & Co. KG from Bietigheim-Bissingen, known worldwide as SUCO, has been an acknowledged specialist in fluid and drive technology for more than eight decades. Among other things, the pressure monitoring of pneumatic or hydraulic units is ensured by a complete product range. Mechanical pressure and vacuum switches from the Baden-Württemberg-based company, as well as assembled special solutions with cables and connectors and explosion-protected pressure switches according to ATEX (potentially explosive atmospheres) and IECEx (international procedure for the certification of electrical devices used in hazardous areas) have also earned an excellent reputation around the globe. The portfolio is complemented by electronic pressure switches and pressure transmitters for almost all applications. In the field of drive technology, the product range includes centrifugal clutches and brakes, electromagnetic clutches and brakes as well as the combination of various drive technology elements into complete systems, for example hybrid solutions.

New ATEX pressure switches

SUCO ATEX pressure switches in particular have gained a worldwide reputation over the past decades. In addition to their robustness and durability, their outstanding features include a good price-performance ratio, a compact design and approvals for a wide range of applications. The new ATEX pressure switches SW 27 of the 0342/0343 series, presented at HANNOVER MESSE 2023, are certified according to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and IECEx scheme and combine the advantages of the already established types 0165 (SW 30) and 0340/0341 (SW 27). With installation dimensions of approximately 50 millimetres, the new 0342/0343 series is one of the most compact Ex pressure switches in its class.

Protection level increased many times over

A special feature of the 0342/0343 series is the newly designed ignition gap dimensions, as a result of which the switches now also cover gas range zones 1+2 according to DIN EN 60079-1. The type of protection Ex d (flameproof enclosure) thus achieved guarantees the containment of potentially occurring ignitions or explosions inside the enclosure of the pressure switch. In addition to the flameproof enclosure, type of protection Ex t (protection by enclosure) is also achieved, which guarantees an intrinsically safe circuit in the overall system. All in all, the general level of protection within a potentially explosive atmosphere is thus to be increased many times over. The new ATEX pressure switch is suitable for voltages up to 250 volts and has protection class 2 insulation. As with the majority of SUCO's mechanical pressure switches, the switching point can be adjusted via a screw when installed.
