The Karlsruhe Research Center for Information Technology (FZI) is presenting innovative solutions for sustainable mobility and energy management at HANNOVER MESSE 2025 in Hall 13, in the THE-LÄND pavilion. The focus is on demonstrators for bidirectional charging and for the “GreenFlex” project. In addition, research work on automated local public transport, on real-world laboratories and on open source software will be presented. The exhibition stand offers a platform for exchange with companies, research institutions and political decision-makers to jointly set new impulses for technological developments.

New technologies for an intelligent energy and mobility infrastructure

At the trade fair, the FZI will be demonstrating how digital technologies can help to make energy systems more efficient and sustainable. In the future, bidirectional charging will not only make it possible to charge electric vehicles, but also to feed excess energy back into the grid. This opens up new possibilities for intelligent load management and grid stabilization. On the basis of the “GreenFlex” project, the FZI demonstrates how industrial processes can be dynamically aligned with the availability of renewable energies in order to avoid peak loads and use resources more efficiently. According to the FZI, both developments exemplify the institution's application-oriented research approach: scientific innovations are transferred into practice and open up new possibilities for the economy and society.

Open platforms for automated local public transport and autonomous driving

In addition to energy topics, the FZI is presenting its expertise in the areas of automated public transport and real-world laboratories such as the test field for autonomous driving in Baden-Württemberg. The focus is on open, flexible systems that enable sustainable and safe mobility. Open source software plays a crucial role here, as it makes innovations accessible and accelerates the further development of autonomous systems.

Invitation to exchange

Interested companies, public institutions and researchers are cordially invited to visit the FZI stand at HANNOVER MESSE 2025 and to find out about innovations and opportunities for cooperation. “We would like to talk to potential partners in order to jointly develop solutions for the challenges of sustainable mobility and energy supply,” emphasizes Jan Wiesenberger, member of the FZI Executive Board.
