Transparency down to the field level
With the plug-and-play link module SIRIUS 3RC7 for the SIRIUS modular system, Siemens integrates consumer feeders at the field level directly into automation systems. This should significantly simplify communication from the field level to the cloud.

With the intelligent SIRIUS 3RC7 link module, Siemens is now offering a quick and easy way to achieve complete data transparency down to the field level. The plug-and-play expansion module is designed to combine information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) with minimal installation and commissioning effort. This means that the data available at the consumer can also be used efficiently. According to Siemens, the intelligent link modules SIRIUS 3RC7 can be seamlessly integrated into the existing automation environment as part of the leading automation concept Totally Integrated Automation (TIA). SIRIUS 3RC7 is part of the SIRIUS modular system, the comprehensive portfolio for industrial switching technology.
Data-driven decisions enable
“Transparency down to the field level is becoming increasingly important. However, many devices are not connected to the automation system, which means that important data is missing. By digitizing the field level, we are creating a new dimension of transparency and enabling data-driven decisions,” says Andreas Matthé, CEO Electrical Products at Siemens Smart Infrastructure.
Integrated diagnostic functions help with fault detection
Numerous parameters of the feeder can be directly recorded and evaluated, for example, voltage, current, phase asymmetry, number of overload trippings and much more. The integrated diagnostic functions help to detect and rectify faults more quickly. The data can be used for Senseye Predictive Maintenance, the comprehensive solution from Siemens for predictive maintenance, among other things. This uses artificial intelligence to examine, for example, fluctuations in current strength for anomalies that indicate a defect. This should significantly increase the reliability of maintenance planning and the availability and cost-effectiveness of the system.
Current status information at all times
Thanks to the complete integration in TIA, the user always receives current status information in his operating software. In addition, a dashboard for quickly identifying bottlenecks is also available when using special apps such as “Node-RED”. This helps to avoid failures and increase the availability of the plant.
Suitable for all common automation systems
According to Siemens, the intelligent SIRIUS 3RC7 link modules can be ideally integrated into the compact SIMATIC ET 200SP IO system. However, it should also be possible to use all other common automation systems. Up to 16 consumer feeders can be connected per BA-Send bus adapter module to benefit from the simple commissioning, individual scalability and the maximum flexibility offered by the SIMATIC ET 200SP.
New product class thanks to intelligent link module
In combination with SIRIUS switching devices and the compact SIMATIC ET 200SP IO system for the control cabinet, intelligent SIRIUS 3RC7 link modules ensure secure and efficient data exchange between the OT and IT. The expansion of the existing SIRIUS portfolio (modular system) with the new intelligent link module SIRIUS 3RC7 has given rise to a new, advanced product – the SIRIUS Intelligent Load Feeder. The SIRIUS Intelligent Load Feeder is a pre-assembled, digital feeder consisting of a SIRIUS 3RV2 power switch, a SIRIUS 3RT2 contactor and the intelligent link module.
